"To make use of inherent personal and creative potential mingled with hard work so as to carve a niche in the field of Applied Science, Technology and Community Cell."
Dr. Savita Dixit is a HAG Professor and former Head of the Department of Engineering Chemistry at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal — one of India's premier National Institutes of Technology. With over 38 years of distinguished teaching and research, she stands among the most prolific researchers in Applied Chemistry in Central India.
Her scholarly journey began at Vikram University, Ujjain, where she earned her M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Chemistry. She went on to undergo advanced international training at Salford University, England (1998) and has presented at prestigious conferences in Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai, Nepal, and Boston, USA.
Founder of the celebrated cultural initiative Tooryanaad at MANIT, she seamlessly blends scientific rigor with social leadership. She has been recognised with state-level Hindi service awards, the Naari Sashaktikaran Award (FICCI, New Delhi, 2016), the Vishishtha Hindi Sevi Samman, and multiple best paper awards at national and international conferences.
Her research—spanning natural product chemistry, biodegradable composites, biodiesel production, and environmental analysis—is actively applied to real-world problems of sustainability and human health. She holds 11 awarded Indian patents and has published over 200 papers in international journals indexed in Scopus, SCI, and SCIE.
Phytochemical investigation of Indian medicinal herbs for anticancer, antimicrobial, antifertility, and immunomodulation activities. Pioneer work on Piper betle, Butea monosperma, and Curcuma longa.
Development and characterization of eco-friendly natural fiber reinforced composites using jute, coir, bamboo, and human hair fibers. Biodegradable composites using cow dung and recycled materials.
Enzymatic degumming of vegetable oil feedstocks for biodiesel production; spray pattern and emission characterisation of linseed methyl ester; transesterification research for CI engine fuels.
Water quality analysis of Bhopal lakes (Upper Lake, Lower Lake, Shahpura Lake); phytoremediation of industrial wastewater; heavy metal analysis in lake sediments and groundwater.
Rational drug design approaches for antifertility natural products; herbal gel compositions for diabetic wound treatment; comprehensive antioxidant and anticancer activity studies.
